Named Indianapolis' "Best Jazz Musician" of 2015 and 2016 by NUVO Magazine, Charlie Ballantine, is a professional guitarist who performs regularly around the midwest.

Charlie has been a featured artist at notable events such as the Penrod Art Festival, The Indianapolis Jazz Festival, The Bloomington Jazz Festival and is a frequent performer at renowned jazz clubs such as The Jazz Kitchen and The Chatterbox.

He also holds a degree in jazz studies from Indiana University where he studied under Corey Christiansen, David Baker, and many others. His music stems from the traditions of folk, jazz, and blues music with influences such as Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Wes Montgomery, and Jimi Hendrix.

Joel graduated from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2012. While at Indiana University, Joel studied with David Baker and guitar professor Corey Christiansen. He has shared the stage with artists such as Randy Brecker, Alan Pasqua, Robert Hurst, Peter Erskine, the Sophie Faught trio, and APA finalist Zach Lapidus. He has been featured in various local and national magazines for his guitar playing. Joel is an active performer with The Tucker Brothers Quartet, the legendary indie rock group Eliot Bigger, and many other side projects. Joel has traveled around the United States for performances as well as clinics explaining various Latin American styles of music. Joel and his quartet (Tucker Brothers Trio Con Luke Gillespie) have traveled to South America to perform and give numerous clinics on improvised music centered around the progression of the jazz tradition. Joel currently lives in Indianapolis, IN, where he plays at the Chatterbox jazz club every Wednesday night and Teaches private guitar lessons.
Ryan Taylor
Ryan began studying guitar at age 11. He attended the Shenandoah Conservatory as a Jazz Studies major. He later served honorably in the 282nd US Army Band at Ft. Jackson, SC.

While completing an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, w/ honors, from the University of Washington, he apprenticed with renowned Pacific Northwest saxophonist Kareem Kandi.

Ryan moved to Indianapolis in 2013 and began playing with neo-fusion band Premium Blend. He’s had the privilege of working with Rob Dixon, Steven Jones, and Walter Smith III.

Ryan obtained an MA in Journalism from Indiana University in 2015. He currently resides, teaches, and plays jazz in Indianapolis.
