Roger Schmelzer previews his upcoming New York cabaret directed by the legendary Marilyn Maye. He evokes the enduring messages of the Great American Songbook as a pathway to stability in the face of uncertainty. “Never has the Songbook had a bigger role to play than today,” Roger says. “We need this music to bring us together and reassure our friends and family that they can securely chart their own course.”
His debut CD, "About Now" was described by public radio as "Chock-full of the sorts of clever lyrics and lush arrangements that characterize songs for intimate settings from the last century to today."

Roger is a board member of the Great American Songbook Foundation founded by Michael Feinstein He is past chair of the board for The Cabaret in Indianapolis, one of the fastest growing venues in the United States.

Roger and his wife, Indianapolis actor Cindy Phillips have three grown children and a brand new granddaughter!
