Who said Indy Jazz Fest couldn’t be funky – think again. These powerhouse bands weave between jazz, soul, R&B, groove, acid jazz and beyond. Ghost-Note & Chantae Cann have connections to Snarky Puppy through collaborations, guest appearance and several also perform double duty as members of the SP band itself. Polyrhythmic is a great west coast jazz fusion outfit featuring 4 contemporary virtuosos.

Chantal Cann ...

Chantae Cann’s voice is the perfect combination of a warm Spring day, the fragrance just before it rains, and a sunset so breathtaking you can’t seem to capture it just right on camera. Her vocal delivery is soothing, sultry and more than just soulful, it’s soul fulfilling. Whether you find yourself listening to her live at a show or turning her up in your headphones, chances are you will have peace in your mind and a smile on your face. Chantae’s music blends the exploratory sounds of JAZZ with the feel good vibes of SOUL, which makes for a mixture that is quite delicious. It is her heart’s desire to simply inspire, uplift and encourage the lives of others through music.

A Chicago native, Chantae is not a novice to the music world. She has been blessed to travel the world as a background vocalist (10+ years) with the likes of Leon Timbo, Darlene McCoy, P.J. Morton, Gramps Morgan, and Grammy Award winning artist India Arie. She’s had the tremendous honor of collaborating with artists/bands such as, Snarky Puppy, Jarrod Lawson, Jonathan McReynolds, Tony Momrelle, Jaspects, The Foreign Exchange, Zo!, Mike Hicks, Sho Baraka and Khari Cabral Simmons.

Ghost Note ...

If the Grammy Award winning band, Snarky Puppy, was a heart, drummer Robert “Sput” Searight and percussionist Nate Werth serve as its explosive pulse. World renown for their artistic communication through rhythm, this dynamic duo debuts their own project, expanding their percussive voice into a night of melody through innovative grooves and captivating artistry.

GREG SPERO: Pianist/composer Greg Spero has established himself as one of the most revered and in demand musicians in the jazz, jazz fusion, instrumental hip-hop and electronic music. Winner of the 2013 Chicago Music Award for Best Jazz Entertainer, Spero has performed with acclaimed musicians such as Arturo Sandoval, Corey Wilkes, and Robert Irving III, co-produced tracks with Ski Beatz (of Jay Z) and Shock G (Digital Underground founder) for hip-hop artists such as Murs and Mos Def as well as written music scores for movie and theater productions. The young musician’s complex and developed discography is more reminiscent of that of a performer twice his age, which has earned Spero recognition as one of, if not, the premiere up-and-coming pianist from Chicago today.

HADRIEN FERAUD: Born into a family of musicians, Hadrien Feraud began studying guitar at age 8, taking lessons from his father. Later, he immersed himself in the study of electric bass, analyzing the techniques of Christian McBride, Victor Bailey, Anthony Jackson, Skúli Sverrisson, Gary Willis, Matthew Garrison, Richard Bona, Linley Marthe and, of course, Pastorius. Feraud’s talent as a bass sensation has become widely known throughout the world. Still in his 20s, Feraud has already performed and/or recorded with John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Biréli Lagrène, Flavio Boltro, Jean-Marie Ecay, Mokhtar Samba, Jim Grancamp, Jon Grancamp, Dominique di Piazza, Thierry Eliez, Linley Marthe and many others. Hadrien has been named Rising Star, Electric Bassist of the Year by the Downbeat Critics Polls and Most Exciting New Player by Bass Player magazine.

MIKE MITCHELL: Worldly and wise with chops and a first class music education at the age of 20, Dallas drummer Mike Mitchell is a globetrotting prodigy. In the last four years he has won more awards from DownBeat Magazine than he can remember, as well as being cited as an up-and-coming artist in countless other worldwide publications. He has worked with Christian McBride, a virtuoso jazz bassist and multiple Grammy award winner, as well as Antonio Hart, the alto saxophonist who recorded with legends like Dizzy Gillespie and McCoy Tyner. But this only scratches the surface of what Mitchell has already accomplished.

DARIO CHIAZZOLINO: Dario Chiazzolino is a multi-award winning Italian guitarist and composer based in New York City. One of Italy’s most in-demand jazz musicians, he performs regularly and records with many top European and American jazz musicians. The recipient of numerous awards, Dario has been playing guitar professionally since age 14. He was awarded as “Best Guitar Player” in diverse music competitions, including Umbria Jazz Festival ( IT ), Top Jazz (UK) and on several magazines such as Italian Jazz Magazine, Guitarlist and D-Magazine.
